Mandolin Orange
In 1965 in San Francisco
Bob Dylan was asked for a rhyme for orange
He said “I’ll come back to you in a while”
We’ve heard no more.
Browning said the Rajah comes
(Sometimes chewing on an Orange)
“from the Ganges to the Blorenge”
But that’s obscure and fails –
It’s a prominent hill in Southeast Wales -
So I shan’t start writing this poem
Until after I’ve fixed this door-hinge
Ladies and gentlefruits
Mandolin Orange
